Note: Talkdesk is transitioning customers to an enhanced Numbers UI experience. During this transition, new customers in our US and EU Regional Clouds will experience the enhanced experience. Existing customers, and customers in Canada, will continue to see our legacy Numbers UI until the transition is complete. Please use this section of the article for legacy Numbers UI users.
Phone numbers are an essential part of your Talkdesk account so you can make and receive calls.
In the Numbers section, you can manage your numbers in a centralized area.
Below are some options you can choose from to associate a number with your Talkdesk account in the way that best matches your business needs. Learn everything about our phone number coverage.
Buying a New Number
You can purchase numbers from the United States and Canada, in a self-service manner, and easily get any number you want, without having to provide documentation such as proof of address or identity.
For the remaining cases (numbers from other countries or other needs), you can easily submit a request to our Support team through the Numbers app.
To add a new number to your account, follow these steps:
1. Select the Admin [1] app.
2. Open Numbers [2].
3. Click Buy number [3].
4. Select the number’s “Country” [4] from the drop-down menu. All supported countries are listed. If your country does not show, you can connect an external phone number with Talkdesk using SIP.
5. In case you want the number to have certain digits, add them to “Narrow your Search” [5]. You can add up to six numerical digits here.
6. Select the “Number type” [6].
7. Indicate the “Location (Area code)” [7]
8. Hit Search numbers [8] to find the list of available options according to the criteria you defined.
9. When the list of available phone numbers is displayed, you will see the standard prices for each phone number next to the corresponding phone type (may vary depending on the country and number type). Click Buy [9] next to the phone number you want to add to your account.
Note: Click anywhere on the row of the desired number to see information about "Coverage" for that number. You can also click Buy on this side menu. |
10. Review the Details and Coverage. To complete the purchase, click Buy this number [10].
Note: If the number you wish to buy is not showing, please submit a request to the support team.

Once you add a new number to your Talkdesk account, you're redirected to the new phone number's configuration panel, where you can define and change its settings.
11. If you choose a country other than the US or Canada, a screen similar to the one above will be displayed. To proceed with this purchase, click Submit a request and our Support team handle the number purchasing for you.
Adding an Existing Number (Porting)
If you want to keep your existing phone numbers, Talkdesk can port them into your Talkdesk account.
To do it, please follow these steps:
1. Select the Admin app [1].
2. Open Numbers [2].
3. Click on Port number [3]. On the page that opens, you can Submit a request to our Support team so they can port the numbers for you.

Connecting a SIP / VoIP Number to Talkdesk
An alternative to porting numbers is to forward phone calls to a newly created Talkdesk number or to use your SIP PBX to forward existing phone numbers into your Talkdesk account. When forwarding calls, Talkdesk still gets the origin of the call and identifies who is calling.
Deleting a Number
1. Select the Admin app [1].
2. Open Numbers [2].
3. Click on the Delete icon [3] next to the number you wish to delete.
4. Confirm and proceed with the deletion by clicking on Delete [4].
Note: Historical data for deleted numbers can still be accessed under Reporting.
Numbers (Classic)
Note: The Numbers experience shown below is currently only available for accounts in Europe and Canada. It’s accessible both in Talkdesk Classic and in the Admin app in Talkdesk Workspace. For more information about the Admin app, please refer to this article.
Buying a New Number
You can purchase numbers from the United States and Canada directly from your Talkdesk account, without having to provide proof of address or identity.
To add a new number to your account, follow these steps:
- Log into your Talkdesk account as an Admin.
- Select the Admin [1] section at the top of the page.
- Open Numbers [2].
- Click New Phone Number [3].
- Select the number’s “Country” [4] from the drop-down menu. All supported countries are listed. If your country does not show up, you can connect an external phone number with Talkdesk using SIP.
- Insert the search criteria if you want the number to start with a specific “Area Code or Prefix” [5]. For example, to find a London number, enter +4420 in the pattern box.
- Insert the search criteria in case you want the number to start with a specific area code, prefix, or search for a “Pattern” [6] on the number. E.g.: 123, TALK, T*LK.
- Choose the “Phone Number Type” [7] between Local or Toll-free.
- Hit Search for Numbers [8] to find the list of available options, according to the criteria you defined.
- Click Buy [9] next to the phone number you want to add to your account.
Prices for each phone number are listed next to the corresponding phone type (may vary depending on the country and number type). When a new number is purchased, the cost is deducted from your account credit.
Note: If a number is not showing for your desired prefix, please contact our support team, so they can try to allocate one for you. Click here to learn more about phone number types and coverage.
Once you add a new number to your Talkdesk account, you're redirected to the new phone number's configuration panel, where you can define and change its settings.
