[Archive] Product Notice: Workspace Desktop Update to Version 2.0.1 [Effective Jul 29, 2024]

Starting on July 29, 2024, Talkdesk will release the Talkdesk Workspace Desktop App version 2.0.1 enhancing the experience for all desktop App users. This notice includes the enhancements and fixes of this new version 2.0.1 and of its predecessor, version 2.0.0 (which was rolled back on April 18 due to unanticipated behavior).

 

Improvements included in the Desktop App version 2.0.1

Enhancements

  • Updated security patches and performance.
  • New warning screen for network issues, prompting the user to retry the login process. Previously, there were no alerts, which caused login attempts to fail without warning.

Fixes

  • Fixed the issue of incoming calls not appearing in the foreground (on top of all other apps) for Windows users. 
  • Fixed the inability to set Workspace sizing and position for Windows users (after being maximized or resized and then minimized).
  • Fixed the issue in fullscreen mode preventing users from exiting back to the standard mode (e.g., while in Talkdesk Live), forcing them to close and reopen the Desktop App.

 

Impact on older versions

  • Upgrading from version 2.0.0 or older to version 2.0.1: users upgrading to version 2.0.1 will retain the enhancements and fixes included in version 2.0.0, and will additionally benefit from the new fixes included in version 2.0.1.
  • Staying on older versions: Users can continue using Workspace Desktop with their current version, but the most recent enhancements and fixes listed herein won’t be available. In addition, it may compromise frontend troubleshooting from Talkdesk Support services as we transition to our new preferred observability solution, Dynatrace (as previously communicated here). Therefore, we strongly recommend that all users upgrade to the latest version.

Note: Version 2.0.1, and all future versions, will exclusively run on Operating Systems (OS) supported by Talkdesk

 

Release date

On July 29, 2024, the Desktop App version 2.0.1 will be progressively released to all accounts, with the process expected to be completed within one week. Every user will receive a prompt in-product to update to version 2.0.1. Upon selecting “Update”, the new version of the Desktop App will be installed. The notifications will continue to show for each device until the new version is installed.


In-product prompt: it will show every time Talkdesk is launched, for every user when their app version is older than 2.0.1. Notification center message: shown for every user when their app version is older than 2.0.1; it will be dismissed when upgrade is complete.
