Workspace Desktop App allows you to run Talkdesk Workspace™ locally on your desktop, separately from your web browser.

 

April 15, 2024 | Version 2.0.0

Update: Version 2.0.0 was rolled out on April 15, 2024. We received feedback on potential issues affecting users on Windows OS. On April 17, 2024, we removed the update prompt. Those users who already upgraded to version 2.0.0 received a prompt to revert to the previous version (1.12.0). A new version will be released as soon as we address the underlying issue. 

 

On Monday, April 15th, 2024, we will release Talkdesk Workspace Desktop App, version 2.0.0.

Note: This version and all future versions will exclusively run on Operating Systems (OS) supported by Talkdesk

 

Enhancements:

  • Updated security patches and performance.
  • Warning page when there are network issues, allowing you to retry the login process.

Fixes:

  • Fixed a bug with the fullscreen mode preventing users from exiting back to the standard mode (e.g., while in Talkdesk Live), forcing them to close and reopen the Desktop App.

November 21, 2023 | Version 1.12.0

On Tuesday, November 21st, 2023, we will release Talkdesk Workspace Desktop App, version 1.12.0.

Enhancement:

In this release, we have enhanced the user experience for launching the app in scenarios without internet connection. Previously, users might have encountered issues such as the app becoming unresponsive. We have addressed this issue to provide a smoother app launch experience.

  • Handling no internet connection: When attempting to open the desktop app without internet connection or during the login flow when going offline, you will now encounter the following message:

  • Seamless recovery: If the app user restores the internet connection, the app will automatically detect the network connection and display the login account page, ensuring a seamless user experience.

Fix:

  • The option to enable desktop notifications was not visible in the device system settings, preventing users from reactivating the notifications if disabled inadvertently in a popup alert. The Talkdesk notification setting is now included in the device system settings.
  • Users with special characters in the app folder name, such as parenthesis (i.e. ‘()‘), were unable to open the desktop app. While these characters are not recommended, users can now successfully open the Workspace desktop app with paths containing these characters.

July 11, 2023 | Version 1.11.0

On Tuesday, July 11th, 2023, we will release Workspace Desktop App, version 1.11.0.

New:

Talkdesk desktop launcher: Talkdesk desktop will now show a launch window to give feedback to the user when the app is opening. 

Note: This launcher will prevent unresponsive app launching issues that could happen due to the lack of network connection, especially when the Talkdesk desktop app is configured to open during the device startup. 

 

The Talkdesk desktop app will automatically apply retry mechanisms to reduce the impact of connection instabilities, and it will provide feedback when it fails to start up, allowing users to relaunch it manually. The launch screen also provides information about your current desktop version.

May 22, 2023 I Version 1.10.0

On Monday, May 22nd, 2023, we will release Workspace Desktop App, version 1.10.0.

 

New:

  • Deploy desktop app on multiple devices: Talkdesk offers a Microsoft Installer (MSI) package that allows IT admins to deploy Workspace desktop to multiple users or devices. This is recommended for enterprise-grade customers who need to deploy the desktop app in bulk, without needing to install it individually.

Note: MSI installer has the “auto-update” functionality disabled, to maintain full control over the versions installed in the user's devices.

  1. You can find the MSI by accessing the download link or via your account profile:
  2. Access Talkdesk Workspace.
  3. Head to your user profile menu.
  4. Select Desktop versions option.
  5. Expand the Operating System dropdown and select the MSI option.

Fix:

  • Fixed intermittent bugs on the window control buttons (i.e. minimize, maximize, and close) that were showing occasional glitches, such as not being visible or not working when clicked on.

April 17, 2023 | Version 1.9.0

On Monday, April 17th, 2023, we will release Workspace Desktop App, version 1.9.0.

 

Enhancements:

  • System update: Upgraded internal dependencies to make sure software is kept up-to-date.
  • Observability improvement: Added new operational metrics capabilities, allowing Talkdesk to provide you with better support, in case of need.

Fix:

  • Download Call recordings: In previous versions, when attempting to download a call recording within the Activities app by renaming and saving it, the file would be saved on the selected folder without the ".zip" extension. Performing the same action on the Voicemails app would download the file without the ".mp3" extension. These issues would cause the file to be recognized as a generic file type instead of a ZIP or an MP3 file. The bug has been fixed, allowing the users to rename and download call recordings with the right extensions.

March 2, 2023 | Version 1.8.0

On Thursday, March 2nd, 2023, we will release Workspace Desktop App, version 1.8.0.

 

New:

  • Closing prevention mechanism: Now, when attempting to quit the desktop application, a pop-up message will be prompted to confirm the closing action. This will prevent users from accidentally closing the app and losing unsaved work. By using the Quit button, the desktop app will be closed as normal. 
        • Windows: This warning will be displayed when the user clicks on the “exit” button (“X” icon). 
        • MacOS: The warning will only be displayed when performing a force quit action, because the “X” button minimizes the app instead of closing it.

Fix:

  • Fixed a bug occurring for macOS, specifically for Apple Silicon processors (e.g. M1, M2), causing performance degradation and preventing some functionalities from loading.

December 13, 2022 | Version 1.7.1

On Tuesday, December 13th, 2022, we will release Workspace Desktop App, version 1.7.1. 

 

Enhancement:

  • Download option in Explore: Customers using the Explore application can now download reports and dashboards without being prompted with an extra login step. This enhancement aims to improve user experience and efficiency.

Fix:

  • Screen Recording: Fixed an issue with Screen Recording’s media stream capture feature.

On Thursday, November 17th, 2022, we will release Workspace Desktop App, version 1.7.0.

New:

  • Rollback Option: In case a major issue occurs with a new release, users now have the option to roll back. To do so:
    • You will be automatically prompted with a message to downgrade to a previous version.
    • Once you confirm, the desktop app will be downloaded and installed.
  • Maximize/Restore Window: Users can now double-click the title bar to maximize or restore the window size. 

Enhancements:

  • Progressive Rollouts on Updates: Progressive rollouts were adopted to limit the impact of issues that might occur with a new update.

October 25, 2022 | Version 1.6.5

On Tuesday, October 25th, 2022, we will release Workspace Desktop App, version 1.6.5.

The Workspace Desktop App allows you to run Talkdesk Workspace™  locally on your desktop, separately from your web browser.

 

Enhancements:

  • Keep-on-Top functionality: Previously, the keep-on-top functionality was only applied when using the app in a small or medium size window (up to 960px wide). With this new release, the functionality applies regardless of the window size, providing a more intuitive experience. To enable "keep-on-top", go into the menu profile, select Workspace Settings, and use the toggle.
  • Workspace authentication: Improved the desktop authentication mechanism to ensure the application is compliant with restricted policies configured in firewalls.
  • Observability improvement: Added new system observability logs to provide better support in case of need.

September 28, 2022 | Version 1.6.4

On Wednesday, September 28th, 2022, we will release Workspace Desktop App, version 1.6.4.

Enhancements:

  • Performance Improvement: For an enhanced experience, we eliminated unnecessary processes that led to higher than normal Central Process Unit (CPU) consumption, which degraded the app over time. This app version ensures the CPU consumption is at a lower baseline before, during, and after calls.
  • Observability improvement: Added new operational metrics capabilities, allowing Talkdesk to provide you with better support, in case of need.

August 31, 2022 | Version 1.6.3

On Wednesday, August 31st, 2022, we will release Workspace Desktop App, version 1.6.3. 

New:

  • Click URL to open case: Users can now open a case link with Workspace Desktop by clicking directly on the URL. Opening via the browser is the default option only when the user doesn’t have the desktop application installed.

April 18, 2022 | Version 1.6.0

On Monday, April 18th, 2022, we will release Workspace Desktop App, version 1.6.0.

The Workspace Desktop App allows you to run Talkdesk Workspace™  locally on your desktop, separately from your web browser, and offers additional functionality, such as the ability to keep it on top of other windows.

 

Fixes:

  • Apps that reuse TalkdeskID session in their iframe such as the Admin and Developer apps were triggering an error due to the authorization mechanism. This bug has been fixed allowing the users to access all options available within these apps.
  • The minimum height was updated to 540 px to reflect the new title bar in frameless mode. To optimize the user experience in small viewports and ensure that app content displays correctly, the minimum window resizable width was updated to 424 px.
  • Previously, the “Learn More” link in the Help tab of the Mac desktop versions was pointing to the electron helper documentation. We changed the link to point to the Talkdesk Knowledge Base, which will help users reach out to our support resources easily.

March 24, 2022 | Version 1.5.0

Workspace Desktop App version 1.5.0 will be released on March 24th, 2022.

The Workspace Desktop App allows you to run Talkdesk Workspace™  locally on your desktop, separately from your web browser, and offers additional functionality, such as the ability to keep it on top of other windows.

New:

  • Look and feel: The Workspace Desktop App offers a new look and feel by introducing a new title bar that provides more intuitive access to the Notification Center, User Profile, and User Status. This new layout also enhances the user experience to access Workspace products by keeping the navigation bar less cluttered.

The major changes are:

  • A new title bar, at the top, with a frameless window.:
    • The OS (operating system) controls are now accessible on the new Talkdesk title bar.
  • The color of the dock (sidebar) changes from purple to gray.
  • Three elements previously located in the dock are moved to the title bar in the following positions:
    • Notification Center on the left-hand side.
    • User Status on the right-hand side.
    • User Profile on the right-hand side.
  • User Status: A user status label (e.g., Available) is now displayed, in addition to a status timer and an icon to help agents visualize their overall presence, eliminating the need for extra clicks.

December 15, 2021 | Version 1.4.0

On Wednesday, December 15th, 2021, we will release Workspace Desktop App, version 1.4.0.

The Workspace Desktop App allows you to run Talkdesk Workspace™ on a small window, separately from your web browser, and offers additional functionality, such as the ability to keep it on top of other windows.

 

Enhancements:

  • Security: We are updating external library dependencies to ensure that the Workspace Desktop App is up-to-date with the latest standard security measures.
  • Controlled rollouts: We are adding a backend enhancement that will allow customers enrolled in the Early Access program of new features to access these features through the Workspace Desktop App.

  • This version is focused on fixing minor bugs related to multiregional support and rendering calls when using the Windows Aero Snap mode.
