[Archive] Product Notice: Changes to Domestic Outbound Calls from Indian Numbers [Effective Aug 1, 2024]

Please note that due to Indian regulatory telecom requirements, starting August 1, 2024, Talkdesk customers will be unable to make domestic outbound calls* from existing Indian numbers, including toll-free numbers**.

This change does not impact any of your existing numbers for inbound calling. However, to continue making domestic outbound calls from Indian numbers, customers will need to purchase new Indian numbers as outlined below.

  • *Domestic outbound call: any call from an Indian phone number to another Indian number, such as a call from a Talkdesk Indian +91 number to a customer’s Indian +91 number.
  • ** Toll-free numbers: designated for inbound-only services, must not be used for outbound calls. This regulation is already applied in most regions and is being enforced in India. See more about toll-free numbers here.

How to purchase new Indian numbers [Action may be required]

  • At Talkdesk we partner with a third-party carrier, Infobip, to provision new Indian numbers to our customers. Please inform your CSM immediately about the desired amount of Indian numbers. Your CSM will provide you with the required documentation and necessary next steps.
  • Once new Indian numbers are purchased, the Talkdesk Support team will provision them. If your existing Indian numbers are no longer needed for inbound purposes, please request the Support team to have them removed.

Dates

  • Until July 31, 2024: Customers needing to make outbound domestic calls from Indian numbers should purchase new Indian phone numbers as outlined above to avoid call rejections beginning on August 1, 2024.
  • August 1, 2024: Outbound calls from existing Indian numbers will be restricted. Any attempt to make a domestic outbound call from existing Indian numbers will result in the call being rejected. Customers can still purchase new Indian phone numbers after this date.
