Summary: Starting October 26, 2026, each Talkdesk phone number can be assigned to only one voice product at a time. Before this date, customers should review their phone number assignments and make sure each number is assigned to only one voice product. Impacted customers: Customers with numbers currently assigned to more than one voice product |
What is changing and why
A Talkdesk phone number can currently be configured on more than one voice product at the same time. When this happens, the products compete for the same inbound call, and the routing outcome is implicit rather than explicitly configured. Starting October 26, 2026, assigning a phone number to a second voice product will be blocked until its existing voice product assignment is removed.
Impact & action required
- If a phone number is already assigned to only one voice product, no action is required.
- If a phone number is currently assigned to multiple voice products, administrators should review the configuration and determine which product should own the number before October 26, 2026.
Resolving an assignment conflict
When an assignment is blocked, the number is already assigned to another voice product. To move it:
- Open Admin > Numbers.
- Find the number and identify the product that the number is assigned to.
- Go to the identified product and remove the number assignment from that product.
Routing calls through a Studio flow
Talkdesk Studio is the recommended way to control inbound call routing, including behavior that a dedicated line handles today, such as directing calls to a specific agent, queues, or voicemail. For an overview of flows and how to build them, go to the Talkdesk Studio site.
Time and duration
This change is a one-time release effective on October 26, 2026.
