Summary: Salesforce is retiring the JDK Locale Format and enabling ICU Locale Formats. Customers using Talkdesk for Salesforce versions prior to 4.6 must upgrade their package.
Impacted customers: Customers using Talkdesk for Salesforce versions prior to 4.6 (released in November 2022).
What is changing
Salesforce has announced JDK Locale Format retirement and the enablement of ICU Locale Formats, impacting Salesforce orgs that contain elements that don’t meet the minimum required API version 45.0.
Talkdesk for Salesforce versions 4.6 and above are generally compatible with this change, while versions prior to 4.6 require an upgrade to maintain functionality. However, versions between 4.6 and 6.6 contain some unused classes with older API versions. As a result, these versions will not be automatically switched by Salesforce during the Spring '25 release despite not being impacted if ICU Locale Formats are enabled.
Impact
- Talkdesk for Salesforce versions prior to 4.6: Not compatible with ICU Locale Formats and will require an upgrade before June 7, 2025, to prevent any disruption.
- Talkdesk for Salesforce versions 4.6 and above: No impact. These versions contain some unused classes with older API versions. While they won't be automatically switched to the ICU local formats by Salesforce during the Spring '25 release, they are not affected by the ICU Locale Format change.
Action required
Customers using versions prior to 4.6 must upgrade their Talkdesk for Salesforce package before June 7, 2025. To do so, please upgrade to Version 6.4.3 here, and then perform the upgrade to the most recent version via AppExchange.
Time & Duration
- February 8-14, 2025 (Salesforce Spring Release): Salesforce is reinforcing the enablement of ICU Locale Formats, but if an org contains older API versions, ICU will not be enabled yet, no immediate impact expected.
- June 7-14, 2025 (Salesforce Summer Release): Salesforce will enforce ICU Locale Formats, making the upgrade mandatory to avoid disruptions. Upgrading versions prior to 4.6 will be mandatory to avoid disruptions.
