What is changing
The latest Google Chrome browser version 127, eliminates the option to use unpartitioned storage. As a result, Salesforce announced that the users who upgrade to Chrome 127 will be required to use storage partitioning, which may impact certain features of Talkdesk for Service Cloud Voice.
Why is this change being made
Salesforce planned to allow customers to continue using unpartitioned storage until September. However, Chrome 127 enforces storage partitioning immediately. For more details, you can refer to the official announcement here.
Impact of Chrome 127 on Talkdesk functionality
Talkdesk for Service Cloud Voice integration: The pop-up window with Talkdesk Connection will not work by default as it did in the older Chrome versions. We will release a new version of the Talkdesk for Service Cloud Voice package which will have this addressed.
Interim Solutions:
- Stay on an older Chrome version: we recommend you staying on Chrome 111 - 126 until the new Talkdesk for Service Cloud Voice package is released.
- Workaround for Chrome 127 users: If you have already upgraded to Chrome 127 and you need to use the pop-up window with Talkdesk Connection, you can implement the workaround outlined below. Administrators can disable third-party storage partitioning for all agents or on a per-user basis, depending on internal system management.
-
- Open Google Chrome as an administrator
- On the address bar, type “chrome://flags/”
- Find the “Third-party Storage Partitioning” flag
- Select the drop-down option and change the value to “Disabled” (see screenshot below)
