Note: These instructions are applicable to Classic Inbound Routing. To know how to configure voicemail preferences with Studio, please refer to our documentation.
Administrators can choose to disable voicemail entirely or only when it is outside business hours.
When voicemail is disabled entirely, calls that are missed will still be directed to your customized voicemail message, or to Talkdesk's default voicemail message asking callers to please leave a message after the beep, but then the call gets disconnected, not allowing them to leave a recording. To avoid this bad user experience, we recommend that you customize your "Voicemail / Not Answered Message" to state that all agents are currently busy and to please try again later.
If you decide to disable voicemails outside of business hours only, we recommend that you customize your "Outside Business Hours message" to ask callers to call back during normal business hours.
To configure your account so voicemail is disabled entirely or only when it is outside of business hours follow these directions:
- Log into your Talkdesk account as an Administrator.
- Click the Admin section [1].
- Open the "Preferences" section at the top of the page [2].
- Scroll down to 'Voicemail Settings" [3].
- Change the settings from the default "Always" status in the Enabled section according to your business needs: only during business hours ("Business Hours Only") or never ("No") [4].
- When you are finished click "Save".
If you would like to define different voicemail settings for each phone number, you can do so by following these instructions:
- Log into your Talkdesk account as an Administrator.
- Click on the "Admin" tab [5].
- Click on the "Numbers" tab [6].
- Click on the phone number for which you would like to configure the voicemail settings.
- Click on the "Voicemails" tab [7].
- Click "Yes" [8] to override account settings.
- Adjust the settings in the "Enabled" [9] section according to your business needs. You can allow callers to leave voicemails at any time ("Always"), only during business hours ("Business Hours Only") or never ("No").
- When you are finished click "Save" at the bottom of the page to apply these settings [10].
Note: You must do this for each phone number for which you would like to adjust the voicemail settings. You should also adjust your voicemail message for each phone number accordingly by following these instructions.
