[Preferences] Configuring Password Policies

Talkdesk Password Policies enable administrators to configure and manage password complexity requirements according to their security needs. 

A password policy is applied to all user accounts created and managed directly in Talkdesk Login Settings. Talkdesk provides default policies to enforce the use of strong passwords to protect your organization's information. Administrators can modify password policies at any time.

Follow the steps below to define Password Policies:

  1. Log in to your Talkdesk account as an Administrator.
  2. Select the Admin section [1].
  3. Click on the Preferences tab [2].
  4. Scroll down to “Login Settings” and expand the “Password Policies” [3] section. 
  5. Configure the fields as described in the table below:

    Field Description
    Minimum length

    Sets the minimum number of total characters users must include in their passwords. The default is eight (8) characters. For example, if you set it to 10, users must include at least ten characters in each password.

    Note: the minimum required in other password policy requirements counts towards the total characters count.
    Minimum upper case Sets the minimum number of upper case characters users must include in their passwords. For example, if you set it to 1, users must include at least one upper case character in each password. 
    Minimum lower case Sets the minimum number of lower case characters users must include in their passwords. For example, if you set it to 2, users must include at least two upper case characters in each password.
    Minimum numbers Sets the minimum number of numeric characters users must include in their passwords. For example, if you set it to 1, users must include at least one number in each password. 
    Minimum special characters

    Sets the minimum number of symbols users must include in their passwords. For example, if you set it to 2, users must include at least two symbols in each password.  


    Supported characters: !"#$%&'()*+,-./:;<=>?@[\]^_`{|}~

     

    Notes: 

    • The default minimum length for a password should include the minimum default of 
      • 1 lower case character. 
      • 1 upper case character. 
      • 1 number.
      • 1 special character.
    • If you change your password requirements, existing users are not affected until they update their passwords.
    • The maximum length for Password Policies is 500 characters.
    • The maximum number of characters per policy is 10.
    • A password can't contain the user's username and can't match the user's first or last name.
