Overview
Audio quality is a critical component of the contact center environment. Using certified hardware reduces background noise, eliminates echo, and ensures that integrated call controls work reliably with the Talkdesk platform.
Most PC or Mac-compatible enterprise headsets will work with Talkdesk. However, to ensure high-quality voice interactions and a seamless agent experience, we recommend using professional, enterprise-grade headsets. This guide outlines the requirements and supported devices for the Talkdesk Conversations App.

Certified Partner: Jabra
Talkdesk has a strategic partnership with Jabra to provide a streamlined experience without the need for complex third-party middleware. When agents connect a compatible Jabra headset (via USB or dongle), it is instantly recognized by the Talkdesk Conversations App for basic audio input and output.
Integrated Headset Call Controls (Remote Call Control)
To take full advantage of our native integration, hardware-level call control synchronization (Remote Call Control) is exclusively available for Jabra devices.
While basic audio works immediately upon plug-in, agents must explicitly grant headset permissions to activate the hardware buttons (for more information, see this article). Once these permissions are enabled, agents can:
- Answer the call by pressing the accept call control on the headset.
- End the call by pressing the end call button on the headset.
- Mute/Unmute the call by pressing the mute/unmute button on the headset.
- Hold/Resume a call by pressing the hold/resume button on the headset.
- Reject a call by pressing the reject button on the headset.
The headset’s busy light (if supported) reflects the call state (ringing, on a call, and ‘ACW’ while wrap-up form is shown). This behavior follows the specifications provided by the headset manufacturer.
Recommended Connectivity
For the best audio performance and to enable call control features, Talkdesk recommends the following connection methods:
- Wired USB: USB-A or USB-C professional headsets.
- Wireless via USB Dongle: For wireless Jabra headsets, the use of a Jabra Link USB Dongle is mandatory to ensure signal stability and call control synchronization.
- Note on Native Bluetooth: We do not recommend using a computer’s native Bluetooth connection, as it often results in audio instability and loss of hardware button functionality.
Why we recommend USB over 3.5mm analog jacks
Historically, analog 3.5mm jacks were common, but modern CCaaS platforms require digital connectivity. USB connections (including USB dongles) are essential because they allow for:
- Remote Call Control (RCC): Allows agents to natively answer, end, or mute calls directly from their headset's physical buttons, perfectly syncing with the Talkdesk UI.
- Digital Signal Processing (DSP): USB headsets have built-in audio processing, ensuring clear voice quality and active noise cancellation (ANC) regardless of the computer's hardware.
- Firmware Management: Our teams can use vendor software (like Jabra Direct) to push crucial updates and manage devices remotely, which is impossible via a 3.5mm analog connection.
System & Browser Requirements
To ensure full compatibility, including the use of integrated headset call controls, your system must meet the following minimum requirements:
-
Supported Browsers (For Web App): Headset hardware call controls rely on specific browser technologies (WebHID). Therefore, call controls are strictly supported on the latest official releases of Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
- Note: Browsers like Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox do not support the required hardware integration APIs. While basic audio will work, hardware buttons (answer/mute) will not sync with Talkdesk on these browsers.
- Supported Operating Systems: macOS and Windows (latest official versions).
- Desktop App: The native Talkdesk Conversations Desktop App fully supports headset integration on both macOS and Windows.
- Hardware Ports: Ensure the computer has available, fully functioning USB-A or USB-C ports (or a high-quality powered USB hub) directly connected to the machine to accommodate wired headsets or wireless USB dongles.

Jabra Compatibility Guide
Talkdesk supports a wide range of Jabra devices, including the Evolve2, Evolve3, Engage, Biz, and Speak2 series. To verify if a specific Jabra model is supported and to check required firmware versions, consult the official Jabra tool: Jabra Compatibility Guide for Talkdesk.
Other Market Headsets
The following devices are commonly used in contact center environments and are compatible with Talkdesk for basic audio input and output. However, please note that these devices are NOT certified by Talkdesk, and integrated call controls (hardware buttons) are not supported.

Note: For non-certified devices, call answering/ending, and mute synchronization must be managed directly within the Talkdesk Conversations interface.
Important Considerations Before Purchasing
- Platform & Application Scope: Headset call controls are currently scoped and guaranteed only for the Talkdesk Conversations app (both Web and Desktop versions) running on macOS or Windows, using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
- Mobile & Integration Limitations: Please note that headset call control functionality is not supported on the Talkdesk Conversations Mobile app. Furthermore, integration with other Talkdesk products (such as Salesforce Voice Cloud, Talkdesk Embedded, Talkdesk Phone, and others) does not currently support hardware call controls.
- Jabra Exclusivity: At this time, headset call controls (Remote Call Control) are supported exclusively on Jabra devices and their corresponding Jabra USB dongles. While we are continuously working to include other vendors in the future, purchasing non-Jabra devices means your agents will need to rely solely on the Talkdesk UI to answer, mute, or end calls.
- Environmental Considerations & Large Rollouts: Talkdesk tests and officially certifies supported Jabra devices to guarantee reliable call controls and a seamless plug-and-play experience. While you can confidently rely on these certified headsets, every enterprise infrastructure is unique. For large-scale hardware deployments, we recommend standard IT pilot testing to ensure your local variables (such as specific network configurations, security software, or specific PC hardware) are fully optimized for voice traffic.
- Pricing & Procurement: Talkdesk does not provide pricing on headsets or sell hardware directly. Please reference the manufacturers' websites or contact your authorized IT reseller for detailed specifications and procurement.
