Overview
This article covers how to manage permissions for Numbers, including the ability to scope access by team. Admins can control who can view, edit, buy, or delete phone numbers, and, through using Team Scoping, restrict that access further so a user only sees the numbers relevant to their own team, rather than every number in the account.

Giving Numbers Permissions and Adding Scope to a Role
Granting permissions is a way to guarantee that only users with specific roles can perform certain actions on numbers, and that they can only do so for the numbers assigned to their team. To start setting up permissions for Numbers, follow the steps below:
- Go to Admin [1], select Roles and Permissions [2], and then the role to which you want to grant permissions.
- Click on Permissions [3].
- Click Edit [4].
- Scroll down to the “Numbers” area [5] under Admin-Service Settings [6].
- In the Numbers permissions area, select the relevant permissions. Each permission enables to perform the following actions:
- View: Users can see the numbers within their scope in the Numbers list and open their details pages.
- Edit Settings: Users can update a number's settings, including the team(s) it's assigned to.
- Buy: Users can purchase new numbers and assign them to a team during the purchase flow.
- Delete: Users can delete numbers within their scope.
Note: Users can only perform Edit Settings, Buy, or Delete actions on a number if they also have View access to that number. For more information, see Phone Numbers: Permissions in this article.
- For each permission, use the Scope [7] dropdown to select one of the following:
- All: The role can see and manage every number on the account, regardless of team.
- Team: The role can only see and manage numbers assigned to their own team.
- Child teams: The role can only see and manage numbers assigned to the child teams below their own team.
- Team + Child teams: The role can see and manage numbers assigned to their own team and all of its child teams.
This will have a direct impact on the numbers that users can see.
- Once the access has been granted, scroll back up and click Save. The Role & Scopes will now take effect over Numbers.
Setting Permissions With Team Scoping
Over Talkdesk, Admins can set up improved Admin controls, with segmentation of responsibilities related to Numbers, by “Team,” with permissions adjusted to the hierarchical structure of the Customers' organizations.
This guarantees that each user only has access to the numbers that were previously defined for their role, with scoping per team.
Assigning a Team from the Number Details Page
A new Team(s) field is shown on the Number Details page, letting the user select the teams that will have access to that number:
- Go to Admin [1] > Numbers [2] and select the number to update.
- In the Details tab, click Edit [3]
- Go to “Team(s)” [4] and select the team(s) that should have access to this number. Teams with a parent/child relationship are shown in the list so a number can be assigned at the appropriate level of the hierarchy.
- Click Save.
Note: A number can be assigned to more than one team.
Assigning Teams When Buying a Number
When buying a new number, admins can configure the teams' scoping permissions directly in the purchase flow, before the number is even added to the account:
- Go to Admin [1] > Numbers [2] and click Buy number [3].
- Search for and select the number to purchase.
- Under “Team(s)” [4], select the team(s) that will be able to see this number. Depending on the user’s team membership and the scope configured for your role, this field may be pre-filled or required before continuing.
- Click Buy this number [5].
Viewing Numbers Outside User’s Scope
When a user without the required scope tries to search for or open a number they don't have access to, that number will not be shown in the Numbers list, and a “Page not found” screen will appear if they navigate directly to its details page.
Note: Numbers that existed before Team Scoping was enabled default to the “All” scope, so they remain visible to everyone until they are explicitly assigned to a team.
