[Preview] Agentic Autopilot - Automation Designer: Variables

Important Note: Available in Preview for select customers.

Variables can be used in the execution of an automation to store information or to read data from external sources. During a conversation, variables can be created, updated, or overridden.

Automation Designer enables you to see, add, and use custom variables, as well as see system variables.

You can manage variables in Automation Designer’s “Variables” side panel:

Custom Variables

Custom variables are designed by the users. When designing custom variables we recommend that the name be as clear and concise as possible. The description should explain the meaning of the value and, if necessary, the values that are allowed.

Custom variables will be filled on the following components:

  • Action
  • Function component
  • Execute action component

System Variables

System variables are dynamic variables that change during an automation’s execution process.

The system variables are fixed, i.e., they are predetermined and prespecified by Talkdesk internal teams and should not be overridden. They can be used on the components as reading operations.
