Callbar Settings




The Settings panel in the top-left corner of Callbar (next to the Keyboard shortcuts) allows you to select the following options:


  • Audio Input: This option allows you to select the microphone audio input for Callbar. This is where Callbar captures your voice as you speak. An audio level meter allows you to test the input selected and to confirm if the selected device is correctly capturing your voice.
  • Audio Output: Select where to listen to the other person’s voice (eg. headset). This option also allows you to play a test sound to the output selected.
  • Ringing Output: Where to play the ringing sound as a call is received in Callbar (eg. speakers). Click the ‘Play Test sound’ link to test your device.
  • Normalize audio output: Allows you to enable/disable the automatic gain control (AGC) feature (more information below).
  • Always on Top: Choose if you want Callbar to always be displayed in the front or hidden behind other applications (more information below).
  • Connect to External Device. If the Single Device Mode is enabled and you are allowed to use at least one external device, you can add it here (more information below).

When a new audio and/or mic input is added, the Callbar settings panel is automatically updated to list the newly available device.

The Audio settings panel includes the default device settings (the system default mic and default speakers) as well as any other detected options, which can then be selected separately as the input and output.


Testing and changing Callbar audio options:


  • Open the menu [1] in the top-left corner of your Callbar.
  • Click the Settings [2] option.

  • Select your required microphone [3] and talk into it to test it. When properly enabled, you should see the audio level meter change as you speak.
  • Select your required audio output [4] and click the ‘Play Test sound’ link to test this device.
  • Select your required ringing output [5] and click the ‘Play Test sound’ link. When properly enabled, you should hear the call ringing song playing on your chosen device.

Note: When only one input or output option is detected, you are not allowed to use the drop-down menu to change or deselect this. Also note that 3.5mm plugged headsets are not detected as a separate device but as system default, so you won't be able to separate the ringing sound using these devices (only with USB or Bluetooth).


Normalize audio output  

Automatic Gain Control (AGC) is a feature that is on by default in Talkdesk. It automatically adjusts the volume of the agents' microphones to improve the clarity and loudness of their voices based on the external ambient noises i.e.: agents who don't have high quality headsets, who may work outside the office where the ambient noise is loud; agents who call external cell phones that cause high fluctuations in input volume due the ambient noise, etc.

However, some devices may not behave properly with the AGC feature, causing the microphone volume to keep self-adjusting during a call. If this is your case, you may consider disabling this option for your Callbar Chrome App.

To do this, simply switch the ‘Normalize audio output’ toggle to the left (off position) [6].


Always on Top

By default, this option is set to ON meaning that Callbar is always displayed in the front, always visible and never hidden behind other applications, unless minimized:

You can, however, choose to not always display Callbar on top of your other open applications by simply switching this toggle to the left (off position) [7].




Connect to External Device

When your Administrator activates the Single Device Mode through the account’s Device Settings, and you are allowed to use at least one External Device, you will see the option ‘Connect to External Device’ in your Callbar Settings.
