Q: What is Talkdesk Callbar and why do I need it?

A: Talkdesk Callbar is an application that allows users to make and receive calls via Talkdesk from any application they are working in, giving agents the power and the context needed to communicate with customers in real time. 

Here are just some of the benefits of using Callbar:

  • Lightweight and easy to use. Talkdesk Callbar can be used by anyone in your organization.
  • Compatible across applications. Callbar supports your existing workflow and ensures you always have the context needed when connecting to customers in real time.
  • Always accessible. Make and answer calls from anywhere on your desktop - no more having to comb through open tabs for your softphone.
  • Callbar is also fully integrated with Salesforce, Zendesk and and supports click-to-call, screen pops, call logging and more.


Q: What are the differences between Callbar App and Callbar Chrome App?

A: Callbar App has the same design and is at feature parity with Callbar Chrome App. All current Callbar App functionalities still exist in Callbar Chrome App, however, only Callbar Chrome App is compatible with Chrome OS. 

With the announcement of Chrome Apps being shutdown in early 2018, we have moved Talkdesk Callbar from being a Chrome App only into a modern desktop application. This move allows us to build more robust features and experiences for the next generation of Callbar. 

In case you are using Chrome OS however, you should still use and install Callbar Chrome App instead.


Q: What are the advantages of Callbar App?

A: By becoming a native app, independent of Google Chrome, Callbar App can be used with more web browsers. Most importantly, you will be future proofing your organization when Chrome Apps are deprecated (unless you are using Chromes Os, in which case you can and must continue using Callbar Chrome App). You can already use it with the latest versions of the following browsers:

  • Safari (Version 10)
  • Mozilla Firefox  (Version 54)
  • Chrome (Version 59)
  • Edge (Version 14)

If your company uses G Suite by Google, you can also automate the installation of Talkdesk's Chrome Extension and Callbar Chrome App to all your agents by setting a policy. Q: What version of Chrome do I need to install Callbar Chrome App?
A: Version 51 or greater.


Q: How do I connect Callbar App to my Zendesk account?

Q: How do I connect Callbar to my Salesforce account?

Q: How do I know if there are updates available to Callbar?
A: Callbar will check every 15 minutes for updates. If a new update exists, it will display a message with an 'Update now' button that you can click to update the Callbar.


Q: Can I hide Callbar instead of just minimizing it when not in use?
A: Yes! Simply click the Callbar to display its menu, click on Talkdesk Callbar and select 'Hide Talkdesk Callbar'.


Q: How do I log out of the Callbar?
A: Open the menu in the top-left corner, and click the 'Log out' option.

Q: Can I use Callbar in conjunction with Talkdesk's main web application?
A: Yes, given that the widget mode is enabled. Configure widget mode if you are going to be logged in to the Talkdesk main application and the Callbar at the same time. This will ensure that calls only go through Callbar and don't ring in both places simultaneously.
