Why is there a delay before Talkdesk connects the caller to the greeting message?

The time delay before a caller reaches the greeting message is not controlled by Talkdesk; it depends on the telecom provider, the origin, and the destination of the call. Once the greeting message is played, Talkdesk will ring each agent for 35 seconds (default timeout) or for the amount of time specified in the phone number’s “Custom Settings”.
