Voicemail Transcriptions

Talkdesk allows admins to activate voicemail transcripts on their Talkdesk accounts with one click. When activated, Talkdesk will compile the speech-to-text voicemail transcript into the caller’s activity feed, along with the voicemail data.

Getting transcriptions of voicemails can save you time, since you can screen them more quickly.

Once enabled, you can view the transcriptions next to the recording in the voicemail section, or on the customer's activity tab in the Contacts section:

You can also send email notifications to the recipients of your choice when a voicemail transcript is received. To configure this setting in your Talkdesk account, follow the instructions here. Or you can configure an automated task filter to only send an email with voicemail transcription when the voicemail was received outside of business hours. 

 

Enabling Voicemail Transcriptions

To activate voicemail transcripts for all phone numbers in your Talkdesk account:

  • Log into your Talkdesk account as an Administrator.
  • Select the "Admin" section [1].
  • Click the "Preferences" tab [2].
  • Scroll down to the "Voicemail Settings" section [3].
  • Next to "Transcriptions" [4] click "Yes".
  • When you are finished click "Save" at the bottom of the page to apply these settings.

Note: Voicemail Transcriptions cost $0.06 per minute, both for international and domestic calls. The default Maximum Length is set to 2 minutes and can be adjusted to 1 minute only. Additionally, currently only American English is supported. A voicemail might not be transcribed if our system detects that the voicemail isn't in English or if there is background noise.

To define different voicemail settings per phone number, follow these instructions:

  • Log into your Talkdesk account as an Administrator.
  • Select the "Admin" tab [5].
  • Click the "Numbers" tab [6].
  • Click the phone number for which you would like to configure the voicemail settings.
  • Select the "Voicemails" tab [7].
  • Click "Yes" [8] to override account settings.
  • Click "Yes" or "No" next to the "Transcriptions" [9] section to configure this setting according to your business needs.
  • When you are finished click "Save" [10] at the bottom of the page to apply these settings.

Follow the steps above for each phone number for which you would like to adjust the voicemail settings.
